Grand Risings, Black Cactus Family!
Fall has finally found its way back to the high desert. Cooler mornings, longer shadows, and that stretch of the year where everybody suddenly remembers what they meant to finish back in January.
I'll be straight with you: it's been an interesting month at the space. A pipe broke in the office, and the open floor is closed while the repairs and the insurance side get sorted out. Not the update I wanted to write, but it's important we share what's happening on our side.
The good news? The conference room stayed dry, the mailboxes never stopped, and we're still here.
Let's dive in.
The conference room is open
If you need a door that closes, it's yours. The room is private, seats up to 8, and books by the hour at $65. Client calls, interviews, a small team meeting, or just a few quiet hours away from the kitchen table.
Mail forwarding is here
A few of you travel more than you're home, so we built this for you. If you have a Black Cactus address, we'll ship your mail wherever you are: actual postage plus a flat $5 per forward. No monthly fee.
Email us or text (760) 910-9422 to get set up.
Why I built Black Cactus
In 2023 I got laid off from a remote job and found myself working out of my house in Twentynine Palms, wondering where all the other people like me were. I wrote down the whole story, the professional loneliness of working remote in the desert and what I hoped this place could be.
Build your own retreat
Thinking about getting your team out of the office and into the desert? Our retreat builder lets you sketch one out in a couple of minutes: group size, days, food, the extras. You get a plan back, no pressure.
Know someone who needs a room?
Black Cactus has always been built by the people who walk through the door and the people who send them. If you know someone working remotely out here who could use a room, a business address, or just a few more people in their corner, send them our way.
Until next time!
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and for sticking with us while we patch the walls. If you've got questions about the space, the room, or your mailbox, call or text (760) 910-9422: it comes straight to me.
